Bio

Jessica is a Belgian pianist born in Namur. Her musical journey has been rich and diverse, starting with classical piano, studying with Cécile Dumont (music academy, Ciney), Jacqueline Lecarte (IMEP, Namur), Johan Schmidt and Yuka Izutsu (Conservatorium of Mons), and Marie-Madeleine Delacroix.
Her interest in the connection between the musician's body and their instrument led her to explore Qi Gong and meditation, enhancing her awareness.
She ventured into musical storytelling with "Le Rossignol", collaborating with Maïa Aboueleze and Elvire Debliquy (Cie Gokibouli). This production toured extensively, including performances in cultural centers and schools through the "Jeunesses musicales' federation" in Belgium. They won the "Monte le Son" award in 2016.
Embracing improvisation, Jessica studied under Stephane Orlando and Eve Beuvens, before fully dedicating herself to jazz, with Nathalie Loriers in the music academy of Eghezée. She pursued further education at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels, studying with Nathalie Loriers and Diederik Wissels, where she's currently pursuing her Master's degree.
Jessica is active in various musical projects. She plays and composes for her Quartet featuring flute, double bass, drums and piano (with Lúcia M. Pires, Robin Couderc and Audrey Dechèvre). She plays in the trio FreeTree with Karen van Schaik (baritone & alto saxophone) and Rob Swennen (drums). She plays in different duos : with jazz singer Wytske Gratama, with Muriel Maria, and another with Maïa Aboueleze (taiko drums). She is also a member of the Latido Collective with Cornelia Zambila (violin) and Shaya Feldman (double bass).
Jessica also holds a master's degree in development cooperation (ULB, Brussels), for which she completed a 3-month internship in Baracoa (Cuba), for the NGO "Luthiers sans frontières".
